Clash of Clans picks up biggest update yet with 'Clan Wars'

Clash of Clans has had one of its biggest updates in the infamous game’s history today. Now players can raid without any risk to their resources, shield, or trophies, and work towards two new achievements. This is done with a new system called war bases, where multiple players can lump all of their troops together in the same place and, once attack day arrives, they all head out to raid other war bases together. In the meantime, your village stays entirely separate from the whole affair. The full details on the update are available at the SuperCell forums.

Google updates back-end in light of Heartbleed vulnerability

If you've been online at some point in the last 36 hours, chances are you've heard of 'Heartbleed', a flaw in OpenSSL that has exposed data to theft on approximately 2/3 of servers in use around the globe over the past two years. It's not known how bad the damage may be, but the revelation of the vulnerability sent server teams around the world scrambling to patch their systems. Among them: Google. In a posting today on the Google Online Security Blog, Google revealed that they had patched OpenSSL vulnerabilities in a number of their services.

Microsoft OneNote for Android now lets you create notebooks and sections

A couple of quick improvements are hitting the Microsoft OneNote app on Android today, bringing it closer to parity with the app on other platforms. It's a short changelog, but the biggest thing to note here is that you can now create Notebooks and Sections directly on your OneDrive account on your Android devices. That's one less step to having synced notes across devices, and a big deal for Android users.

Popular iOS email client and Dropbox property Mailbox is coming to Android. The app, which was purchased by Dropbox a year ago, will include an "auto swipe" feature that will allow users to archive an email now and automatically archive similar emails that arrive in the future. Mailbox is launching today on Google Play and you can find it at the Play Store link above.

Motorola Mobility has a new President and COO: Rick Osterloh. Formerly SVP of Product, Osterloh is taking over the helm of Motorola from form CEO Dennis Woodside. Woodside, if you'll recall, stepped down in September to take a position as COO of Dropbox, following Google's selling of Motorola to Lenovo.

Nexus 5 now available from Odin Mobile, speciality carrier serving the visually impaired

Odin Mobile sells wireless devices and service for the visually impaired, and just started carrying the Nexus 5. For $399, subscribers get the handset and a month of usability support over the phone, though you can skip the service and save $40. Devices are preloaded with a smattering of accessibility apps set up, which is a nice touch. One of them is Talkback, which is actually baked into Android, and allows users to get audio queues about which apps their finger is hovering over.
