Chromecast debuted in July 2013, and it's become one of the most successful Google physical products ever. Easy to use, inexpensive, and compatible with all Android and iOS devices, the Chromecast is one of those unique products that all technology fans love.
Chromecast: The easiest way to enjoy online entertainment on your TV
The Chromecast works as a stand alone media streamer on your existing Wireless network. There are companion applications for both Android and iOS to assist in the setup, but all the action comes from the app that uses the service toy want to cast. Hundreds of applications have Chromecast support baked in, and with a tap of the icon your Chromecast connects to the stream, does any buffering magic it may need to do, then send full HD video and HQ audio directly to your TV via an existing HDMI input.
And as of July 2014, a number of devices can mirror their displays to Chromecast.
There is also support in the Google Chrome browser for the PC and Mac, and web apps like YouTube and Netflix have baked in direct support. Any tab can also be cast to your Chromecast, which makes sharing what you see on the Internet easy, no matter what type of media it is.
We're excited to see where Google takes the Chromecast platform, and we're sure there are big things in store!
