Google today announced an update for the stable branch of Chrome OS, which will bump consumers up to version 40.0.2214.93. The release will be rolled out over the next few weeks and contains numerous bug fixes, security patches and feature improvements.

The highlights of this update, as shared by Google in the official announcement, include the synchronization of your custom wallpapers across connected hardware (previously cross-device wallpaper sync required you use one of the included options). Not only that, but the default wallpaper has been refreshed to fit in with the Material Design. Lastly, the new emoji palette allows for more convenient access.
