This is Audible on Android Auto

One of the most requested apps for Android Auto is here. Almost. Audible has added support for Google's infotainment extension in the beta version of its app, meaning you can now easily listen to books on tape (I'm old, and that phrase is never going to die) while you're driving.

There's not a whole lot to the app, and we're just fine with that. Books that you've got on your Audible account appear in the app. Choose what you want to listen to from the menu, and you're on your way. The playback controls are very basic. The main screen has play/pause, and the 30-second skip and rewind buttons. Hit the overflow button and you can skip forward and back through the chapters, and bookmark sections.

The one caveat here is that you'll need to download the book to your phone first. You can't actually do that through the Android Auto interface. So if it's not on your phone, you're not listening to it.

And, well, that's it. It works, it's simple, and it's finally available — if you're willing to jump through a couple hoops to join the beta group for the app.
