Arbor has announced today that it will be showing off a new "rugged" tablet at CES 2015. On the rugged side of things, the Gladius 10 sports rubber covers for its I/O ports, four-foot drop resistance, IP65 certification, and the ability to operate in temperatures ranging from 32-113 degrees Fahrenheit.

As mentioned before, the Gladius 10 will be shown off at CES next week. As for availability, you can expect the tablet to be up for sale in the U.S. and Canada this May starting at a hefty $1,030.

The Gladius 10 will be demoed at Pepcom's Digital Experience! during International CES, January 5, 2015 from 7 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

"Mobile technology is quickly changing the way work and business is conducted today," said Brian Yurkiw, Arbor Solution vice president. "The key to success, along with a smaller design and advanced features, is durability and connectivity. Our new Gladius 10 rugged tablet is especially designed to withstand drops, vibrations, dirt, and water and can operate across a very wide temperature range. In other words, it is durable and ready for whatever it encounters in a mobile work application."

Durability Factor

The Gladius 10 is a rugged and durable tablet for many applications. The proof is in its MIL-STD-810G and IP-65 certifications, four-foot drop resistance, raised bezel for LCD impact protection, and hinged rubber covers over the I/O ports. The unit will operate in temperatures ranging from 32°F to 113°F, and may be stored in areas where the temperature is between -14°F and 140°F.

Large LCD Display with Enhanced Scratch Resistance

The rugged Gladius 10 tablet has a large, easy-to-view 10.1" TFT color LCD with 1280 x 800 HD resolution and a projected capacitive 5 point multi-touchscreen. Exceptionally thin, damage-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 coating is applied to the screen for enhanced scratch resistance, reduced scratch visibility, and better retained strength once a scratch occurs. Sunlight readable with optical bonding and a high intensity backlight is available, when direct sunlight or high ambient-light conditions are a factor.

Staying Connected

The Gladius 10 keeps workers connected with features such as:

  • Integrated GSM WWAN, WiFi and Class 1 Bluetooth digital connections that aid the sharing of information while keeping workers in touch
  • Micro-USB, micro-SD card slot, and mini-HDMI port as well as two SIM card slots extend its versatility
