Android TV Remote Control app gains tablet support, UI improvements

It looks like the pieces are falling into place for some updates to Android TV. Mere hours before the folks at Google take to the stage to show off all of the amazing things they have brewing for the rest of the year, the Android TV Remote Control app has updated with a UI update and support for tablets.

This update stretches out the bottom navigation for Android TV and adds a permanent play/pause button to the interface, while completing the Material Design format with a sliding lefthand menu for touchpad and settings access. The touchpad and D-pad have a slight UI update as well, making it more clear where the touch zones are for quick interactions.

We're sure to hear a lot more about Android TV during the Google I/O keynote today, and if this update is any indicator the big focus is going to be sublet usability improvements and more features rather than any kind of major overhaul. Are you excited yet?
