Amazon is expanding the reach of its Fire TV set-top box and its Fire TV Stick HDMI dongle to Japan. Both products are now available for pre-order in that country and Amazon Prime Video is also accessible in Japan as well.
Anyone in Japan can purchase the Amazon Fire TV now for ¥12,980. The recently-announced Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote is also available for pre-order for ¥6,480, while the regular version of the Fire TV Stick can be bought for ¥4,980.
Amazon Prime members in Japan can get a special deal for the next three days. Current Prime members can buy the Fire TV Stick for ¥1,980, or the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote for ¥3,480. New Prime members can get the Fire TV Stick for ¥980 or the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote for ¥2,480.
Amazon Prime Video will be available in Japan for owners of the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, along with Fire tablets, iPads, iPhones, Android phones and tablets, Sony PlayStation and Sony BRAVIA TVs or on the web. Amazon Prime members in that country can now access thousands of Japanese and US movies and TV shows, including the company's original US shows like Transparent. Amazon also plans to offer original Japanese programming to Prime Video members in the future.
