Now that Expansys' period of exclusivity is over on the Motorola Milestone (aka the non-U.S. version of the Droid), it's time for price wars to begin. And we're already seeing it at £400 or so, and more discounts aren't out of the question. Good news for those of you who were able to hold out for a little while. [via Intomobile]

If you're one of our Canadian readers with an HTC Dream on Rogers with Android 1.5, stop what you're doing and read this, eh?

You should have by now been contacted by text message that there's an issue with completing 911 galls that's related to GPS location, and that a software fix is on the way. Here's the, erm, text of the text:

URGENT 911 calls: Please disable GPS location on your HTC Dream device to ensure all 911 calls complete. HTC is urgently working on a software upgrade and we will provide details shortly so you can re-enable GPS.

Here are the steps to turn off GPS:

1. Hit the Menu button.
2. Choose Settings
3. Choose Location
4. Uncheck Enable GPS Satellite

Rogers apparently has pulled the Dream for the time being, until things are cleared up. Good luck, folks, and let us know when the update fix rolls in. [via MobileSyrup]

If you didn't know, week 4 of the Smartphone Round Robin is in full effect. Amidst all the CES craziness things kind of get lost but fear not, this Round Robin is still going on! Another Motorola codename is coming down the pike, and this time it's the Ruth, or MB511. CellPhoneSignal got the goods, and it looks like the Ruth will be another MotoBlur device. It's initially running Android 1.5, but a 2.0 or 2.1 upgrade certainly is likely. The screen size shows up as 240x320 (man, that's old-school), along with the familiar Qualcomm MSM7200A processor at 528MHz, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 802.11 b/g and aGPS. Also, it's looking to be a GSM device, so AT&T or T-Mobile may be in the cards should this hit America.

Not to be outdone by Verizon lowering its rates today, AT&T has announced that it's changing up its smartphone plans, too. Here's the skinny:

All smartphone customers, including iPhone customers, may now buy unlimited voice and data for $99.99. For smartphone customers with Family Talk plans (prices assume 2 smartphones), unlimited voice and data is now available for $179.99. Texting plans remain unchanged at $20 for unlimited plans for individuals, $30 for Family Talk Plans.

The new rates take effect Monday. Now we just need AT&T to release a few more Android phones. [AT&T]

Sprint just announced a "maintenance update" to the Samsung Moment Android phone. No, not a full-on Android upgrade, unfortunately. And, what's worse, you'll have to hit up a Sprint store to get it. Here's what's new:

• Network Assist GPS to allow indoor location fix
• Updates to several third-party apps, including Visual Voicemail, NFL, NASCAR and Sprint TV
• Change to Emergency Dial on lock screen
• Hard reset available in recovery mode: remove and reinsert battery; press volume down, send and end keys until reboot option pops up; scroll to wipe data/factory reset; press OK
• Various improvements to battery life

Sprint does say "The ability to download the updated directly on your Moment will be available in the near future," which is nice, we guess, but that really should the standard now. Anyhoo, if you head in and get the update, let us know how it goes. [Sprint]

If you know your tech history, you'd know that Steve Jobs (on the left) and Steve Wozniak (on the right) founded Apple together. Yes, Apple. Maker of the iPhone, among other great products. Steve Wozniak isn't involved with Apple anymore (he still collects a paycheck though!) so he's really free to say whatever the heck he wants. And oh the things he says!

Just recently, he made it known that his current favorite gadget is the Nexus One. Well, he wasn't that outright but it was quite obvious. To quote:

Wozniak made his latest revelation [about his favorite gadget] with a coy laugh and without actually speaking the Google device's name. Instead, when asked what his favorite gadget is, Wozniak said, "Well, it's the latest one. It's a non-Apple product, but it's a gadget that just came out yesterday."

Could you imagine Woz calling up Steve Jobs telling him all the cool things that Android can do? Just awesome. Obviously, we're no stranger to having certain people from Google using certain devices that aren't from Google but it's always fun to see happen. Heck, to be honest, we'd be downright stunned if the bigwigs at each company never used competitors' devices. Oh wait..

To be fair Woz still owns two iPhones and loves them dearly. He just favors the Nexus One =)

T-Mobile is supposed to launch some "deals" on Android smartphones today (all phones require 2-year contract, no mail-in-rebate required) but they're still all kind of expensive. We'd be more excited if these were really deals but since you can probably find better prices out in other retailers or just across the interweb, well yeah, sorry. These aren't real "deals":

• Motorola Cliq - $149.99
• Samsung Behold 2 - $149.99
• T-Mobile G1 - $99.99
• Fender Limited Edition myTouch 3G - $179.99

Yeah, we know. Meh. Just doing a quick search on Amazon we can find the Cliq for $99, Behold 2 for $99, and the G1 for $49.99. Honestly, if you guys are spending ~$150 on a T-Mobile Android smartphone we suggest you take a look at the Nexus One. We hear it's the best Android phone yet.

Looking back, we're actually sorry for even bringing this up. These prices should just be standard already. Now on to your regular scheduled program..

We apologize for the egregious spelling errors in the tweet above. But Samsung Firmware is hearing that the Samsung Galaxy Spica and likely the Samsung Galaxy will both receive the Android 2.0 update in February. In part because of the poor spelling but largely because of the unsourced report, we're uncertain if this will actually happen. But Samsung Firmware seems to be on top of all things Samsung so maybe it might. If this does happen though, we'll be the first to ask: what about 2.1?

No new news on the Samsung Moment or Behold II and Android 2.x at the moment.
