Here we go again, folks, with another Sprint Hero Android 2.1 update. After at least one false start, Best Buy is now expecting the ROM to ship by May 21. Of course, that could be any time between now and then, so we'll just have to wait and see, and hope we guessed right in the office pool. Thanks to our anonymous Best Buy tipster, who claimed the May 21 square for himself.

Android 2.0+ The Dolphin Browser is an old favorite on Android, and it just got a nice refresh in the form of the Dolphin Browser HD. You want tabbed browsing? You got it. Gesture support? Yep. It's there. How about the ability to download a YouTube video straight onto your SD card? Sure thing. Go ahead and give it a shot with our hands-on video after the break.

If you're really itching to get your hands on the T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide before (almost) everybody else, you can head over to eBay and have at it. Obviously, nothing can be guaranteed with a pre-release device -- it could brick, it could be a prototype, etc. -- but there's something to yelling "first!" on your neighborhood block right? The seller is asking for $750 BIN but the auction starts at $500 (where there is currently no bidders). As much as we like the myTouch Slide, we'd definitely tread carefully as the seller isn't offering a return policy. (And place your bets on when this listing gets pulled.) We don't want to be getting anyone's hopes up too much here, but it's possible that the Verizon Droid Eris could be getting its long-awaited Android 2.1 update ... tomorrow! That said, we've seen far too many of these "official internal" memos announce dates that have come and gone (Canary Traps, anybody?), so we'll believe it when we have the update in our fat little fingers. Keeping with its trend of weird and awkward form factors, Motorola is pumping out the Motorola Flipout. The Flipout is a completely square Android device that twists open to reveal a surprisingly decent looking physical keyboard. The form factor is such a departure from typical smartphone design that we don't know if we just hate it or hate ourselves for maybe loving it.

Fitting in with previous rumors, the Flipout will run Android 2.1 with Motoblur. The other rumored specs: 700MHz processor, 2.8-inch display, and a 3.1 megapixel camera pit the Flipout as a decidedly mid-level device. The Flipout is expected to hit the US in June and given the overall wackiness of the phone, AT&T has to be the carrier right? One more picture after the jump. [hdblog.it via Crunch Gear]

It's hardly surprising at this point, but the Nexus One apparently is a no-go on Sprint, a little less than two months after its "we're getting it, too!" announcement. Consumer Products representative Michelle Mermelstein told Gizmodo that plans to sell Google's red-headed stepchild are done "because of the 'upcoming availability of the award-winning Evo 4G.' "

That's pretty much the same as what happened with Verizon, which was announced in January as an initial partner of the Nexus One but finally gave up on it in lieu of the Droid Incredible. That means those of you pining for an N1 on a CDMA carrier are out of luck, unless you want to make the leap to AT&T or T-Mobile (or just go the WiFi route). [Gizmodo]

Before we get your hopes up, that picture above is not the purported Samsung S-Pad (it's a Samsung Mondi). The real S-Pad (or as real as rumors can get) is an Android tablet said to pack a 7-inch Super-AMOLED screen along with your usual slew of connectivity options (3G, WiFi, etc) and hopefully be awesome. We're not overly excited about the name, could Samsung have at least tried to come up with something a little more unique? But the thought of a crisp and clean 7-inch Super AMOLED device running Android? That we want. The 'S-Pad' is supposed to be slated for a second half 2010 release in South Korea. It's getting closer.  First the Dell Aero showed up on AT&T's website (with all the normal Google services!), now we see that the FCC has approved it for use in the United States.  Nothing we didn't already know spec-wise, but the green light has been given and AT&T can start selling them whenever they are ready.  Of course no word on when it will be available or any pricing particulars, but rest assured as soon as we know you'll find it here.

With all the other Dell Android news and rumors, is it too little too late?  To me this looks like a great introductory-level phone for people new to the Android platform, or the perfect handset for those who need a smaller, lighter phone.  Let us know what you think in the comments.  [FCC via Engadget]
 

The Lenovo LePhone, a rather attractive Android phone that's been available in China, just got an unboxing which revealed some new interesting features. First, it looks like the LePhone is packing a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen--which is quickly becoming the standard high-end Android screen these days. And second, the LePhone has a 'gesture area' similar to the Palm Pre, a hardware feature that we've been itching to see in an Android device. Score.

Reports are saying that the LePhone is pretty snappy even though it runs a heavily customized version of Android in China. If we ever get this LePhone in the US, vanilla Android is good enough for us! [sooyuu via engadget]

We all know the MyTouch Slide is on its way, it's been teased before in video, and it appears as though it has now surfaced again. The video is a bit all over the place, nothing really ground breaking, or anything to call home about, but either way, the device has made it's way into more hands. Hopefully now that we have seen the device in a more uncontrolled environment then we saw it the first time, more information will follow.
